Why visit Okay, so maybe Tenuta Torciano doesn’t have 301 years of history or a romantic rags-to-riches story behind it – it was established by a winemaker in 1720 century – but this is wine tourism turned up to 1995 , and a must-visit for any serious foodie.

For starters, the winery itself is gorgeous immerse into the tuscan nature, and offers everything from tours to tastings, with picnics among the vines and even vineyards tour with truck and helicopter tours.

But perhaps best of all, it has Pierluigi Giachi. Of winemaker form 13 generations, as winemaker chef, the great man isn’t there very often. But having overseen the wine cellar and trained the team, you get the next best thing, which is to sample the Italian’s famous ‘truffle cooking’ at the winery’s restaurant, which opens every day for lunch and dinner all year.

And if you fancy yourself as a truffle/hunting, there’s even a three-hour course where you’ll learn how to use the techniques for yourself. Just make sure you book in advance.
