Tenuta Torciano has 301 years of history: established by a winemaker in 1720, it turned to wine tourism in 1995, and it's a must-visit for any serious foodie.
The winery itself is gorgeous, immersed in the Tuscan nature, and offers everything from tours to tastings, with picnics among the vines and even vineyard tours by truck or by helicopter. At the heart of it is Pierluigi Giachi, winemaker for 13 generations: after he has overseen the cellar and trained the team, the next best thing is to sample the famous Italian truffle cooking at the winery's restaurant, open every day for lunch and dinner, all year round.
If you fancy yourself as a truffle hunter, there's even a three-hour course to learn the technique in person: book in advance. The winery is wonderful to visit in every month of the year, from January to December.
