In the shadow of the sun in Fregene

During the first weekend of March, with my family, we went to Fregene, a famous seaside resort near Rome.

In the beautiful day on Sunday, while walking the beach under bright sunshine we found a superb restaurant, with tables set right on the beach. The place was so magical that it enchanted us, and we decided to made a stop there for lunch. The fish that was served was great, marinated anchovies, baked octopus, mussels and clam chowder, spaghetti with tuna, rice with seafood, fried mixed fish, all surrounded by the original dishes and served by young but professionals waiters who gift us an unique and magical time. I suggest you to visit the place and the restaurant. You’ll be amazed at how many famous characters have frequented this restaurant, like famous actors of Italian cinema, Gian Maria Volontè, Florinda Bolkan, Mastroianni, Totò, Nanny Loy, Sergio Corrucci, Ettore Scola, Alberto Sordi.

During lunch I combined the fish dishes with the Falanghina white wine, a wine produced in the South of Italy.

It is one of an old series of white wines that are grown in southern Italy. It is believed that the grapes were imported in Italy by colonists from Greece.

The grapes of the wine I tasted were excellent with fish, arrive from vines grown on the land of the Amalfi coast, in the shadow of the volcano Vesuvius.

Its aroma is made of green apples, the scent of apple blossoms with a hint of pineapple.

In the mouth were added scents of citrus.

The aftertaste is long and with a flavor of citrus and green apple.

With the fantastic seafood from the restaurant “La Scialuppa”, and “La Falanghina” it was a perfect match and I’ll congratulate them for the quality, the uniqueness and the emotions that we receive from the products of the Italian soil.
